Andrea Sciarretta

Andrea Sciarretta is Associate Professor in General and Applied Entomology at the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Sciences, University of Molise, Italy. He graduated in Natural Sciences, Magna cum Laude, at the University of Bologna, Italy, and obtained his PhD in Crop and Food Protection, at the University of Molise, Campobasso, Italy. He has been Assistant Professor at the University of Molise, and Researcher at the Italian Agricultural Research Council (CRA) in Florence. He is/has been scientific partner in research projects founded by WHO, UE, Italian Ministry of University and Italian Ministry of Agriculture and is member of several scientific associations. He was Visiting Scientist and Invited Speaker at ICIPE, Kenia and Ethiopia, University of Neuchâtel, Zoologischen Staatssammlung München Museum. He published about 100 papers on systematic and applied entomology.

Main research interests are in General and Applied Entomology: ecological studies on spatial analysis of insect populations, using geostatistical and other statistical methods; faunistic and systematic studies on Lepidoptera in the Palearctic and Afrotropical region; integrated plant protection in fruit crops with the use of methods alternative to chemicals; researches on Arthropods infesting stored products and food premises.
